The Nature of God

It is often said that God is love. This may be so, but it is also true that love is not always soft and gentle. Love can be fierce and demands our everything. It can be all-consuming. In the same way, God’s love for us is all-consuming. It is a fierce love that demands our everything.

The attributes of God

The attributes of God are those characteristics of God that describe Him as He is in Himself. They are His self-existent, perfect, and infinite nature. Many revealed attributes of God are enumerated in the Westminster Shorter Catechism. The attributes of God may be divided into two categories: incommunicable and communicable.

The incommunicable attributes of God are those He does not share with His creatures. They include such qualities as self-existence, infinity, eternality, immutability (unchangeableness), impassibility (the inability to suffer or experience pain), omnipotence (all powerful), omniscience (all knowing), and omnibenevolence (all good). Because these characteristics do not belong to any creature, they can only be known by revelation from God Himself.

The communicable attributes of God are those He shares with His creatures. They include love, joy, peace, longsuffering, grace, mercy, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We know these characteristics to be true of God because they are also true of us as His image-bearers. We do not fully reflect all thecommunicable attributes because we are fallen creatures; however because we have been redeemed by Christ we can grow in likeness to Him by the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us

The character of God

God is perfect. He is holy, just, and good. He is love. He is merciful and gracious. He is faithful and true. He is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. In short, God is everything that we are not. And because he is everything that we are not, we often misunderstand him.

The Location of God

The idea that God is afraid of what he has created is an interesting one. It implies that there is something that God is afraid of and that he is not all-powerful. If God is afraid of what he has created, then it stands to reason that he is not all-knowing either.

Heaven

There is no one answer to this question. It is a matter of personal belief. Some people may believe that God stays in heaven out of fear of what he has created, while others may believe that He stays in heaven because it is His home.

Earth

No, I don’t think that god stays in heaven out of fear of what he has created. I think that god stays in heaven because he loves us and wants to be close to us.

The Fear of God

A common misconception is that God is some kind of all-powerful being who is afraid of what he has created. This could not be further from the truth. What God actually fears is not what we have created, but what we might do with it.

What is the fear of God?

The fear of God is the fear of being separated from Him. It is a reverential and awe-filled respect for who He is. It manifests itself in an humble lifestyle that seeks to please God rather than self. When we have the fear of God, we will want to avoid anything that would grieve or displease Him.

Why should we fear God?

While there are many reasons given in Scripture as to why we should fear God, I believe the following three stand out above the rest.

1. We should fear God because He is holy and just.
2. We should fear God because He is all-powerful.
3. We should fear God because He is our loving Father.

God is holy and just, meaning He hates sin and will judge it harshly. This should cause us to fear Him, because we are all sinners in need of His grace and mercy.

Secondly, God is all-powerful, meaning there is nothing He can’t do. This should cause us to fear Him, because we are powerless against His might and authority.

Lastly, God is our loving Father, meaning He loves us unconditionally and wants what’s best for us. This should cause us to fear Him, because we know that His love for us is perfect and complete, and we never want to do anything that would displease Him or bring dishonor to His name.

When we truly understand who God is and what He has done for us, it should fill us with a reverential fear that causes us to fall down before Him in worship and praise.

Conclusion

It seems clear enough that if God is infinitely good, then He must also be infinitely brave. To stay in heaven out of fear of what He has created would be to act out of a lack of goodness, which is impossible for God. So we can conclude that God does not stay in heaven out of fear of what He has created.
